Swimming is always a famous activity especially for children that enjoy playing water on pool. However, in fitness industry, swimming is also a popular activity. When in contact with client that suffers certain injury or obese problem, the trainers will always recommend their clients to start with swimming. This is not just because of the resistance water bring in every movement and cause the burn of fat but also because the buoyancy water is able to support the body and hence significantly reduce the stress and tension of the joints suffered.
When we talk about swimming as competition sports, everyone knows Michael Phelps. While I am like others have almost 0 knowledge about swimming principles and theories but I'm luckily to have a swimmer who reach national level as friend.
Me: Kenneth, when did you start swimming?
Kenneth: I learn to swim when I’m about 7, and joined training when I’m 11 and stopped until I’m 18.

Me: So do you think it’s easy to swim?
Kenneth: For me, it’s not hard, yet still depends on individuals. I will say it’s not hard to swim but to swim a perfect stroke, that’s a challenge.

Me: Perfect stroke? How do you see as perfect stroke?
Kenneth: Perfect stroke as in every pull or every things you do in the water have lesser resistance and more speed. It’s the way you swim with a lot more speed by cutting away all unnecessary resistance.

Me: Is there any strategy in swimming?
Kenneth: It’s more like you should know how to pace yourself. Plan how to swim if you know how do pace, as in your own pace, not follow and pace others.

Me: I see. Does swimming cost a lot? How much you spend on those apparels?
Kenneth: First for learning fees and club joining fees are all depend on where you join and there is a wide range. For apparels, they might cost quite some money. Competition trunks that up to knee length cost around 500, boreds, pullbouy, paddles, snorkels, fins could cause up to 300 plus. But all these could be use for long time.

Me: How do you see yourself in swimming? You think you are good? What’s your personal best record?
Kenneth: I guess I’m just a good sprinter and I don’t think I’m good enough. I did 25.01second for 50m freestyle and 55.85 for 100m freestyle. I’m happy with that but I know it could be done better.

Me: So do you enjoy to be taken part in swimming? Or you are regret?
Kenneth: I enjoy the different type of fun in the whole journey of training. I can say that not everyone will have this kind of experience. The joy, the team and of course the glory are great memory, I’m not regret, not at all.

Me: Talk about team. Do you prefer to swim in relay or individual?
Kenneth: Basically in my experience, I don’t get to choose. We must take part in individual and then the coach will just choose the 4 fastest individual to compete in relay events. Wouldn’t say that enjoy more in which event, but relay definitely comes like a bonus.
